VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach City Public Schools and a series of partners held a one-stop shop for Virginia Beach schoolchildren who may not be fortunate enough to go back-to-school shopping every year.
JUMP START 2012, sponsored by VBCPS, AidNow and other community members, was held Thursday at the Plaza Annex on Carriage Hill Road to help Beach schoolchildren who had been homeless at some point during the 2011-2012 school year.
Each child got to take home two outfits, a jacket and was able to get a professional haircut, as well as school supplies.
"If you feel good and dress good, you're donna do good," parent Maria Corpew said. "I just can't keep saying, 'Thank you' to them. I can't say enough thank yous."
