WILLIAMSBURG, Va (WAVY) - The Virginia Department of Transportation has closed a Williamsburg intersection after a contractor struck a gas line.

According to Jennifer Gwaltney with VDOT, the contractor struck an unmarked gas line at the intersection of Irebound Road and Monticello Avenue. It is part of the construction on the Ironbound Road Improvement Project.

Utility crews are on site making repairs at this time, Gwaltney said. Delays should be expected in the area and the intersection should reopen around 1 p.m. Friday.
