SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a man was run over by his own tractor while placing a battery in the vehicle.

Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk says the man was standing between the front and rear tire, placing a battery in the tractor that was in gear.

When the battery was connected, the tractor moved forward, running over the man's leg and pinning him between his tractor and a shed.

Klink says Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and were able to move the tractor out of the way, assist the victim and transport him to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment.
