SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - The Suffolk Health Department is reporting another case of rabies.
About two weeks ago, WAVY.com reported that a 7-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were bitten by a fox in the 3800 block of Pughsville Road. Suffolk officials now say a man and his dog were bitten by another fox in the same area, on Person Street. That fox too was rabid, according to officials.
Unfortunately, the man has started undergoing rabies treatments; his dog had to be put down after testing positive for the disease.
Suffolk Animal Control advises residents to do the following in an effort to prevent rabies:
If you suspect an animal is rabid in the City of Suffolk, call Suffolk Animal Control at (757) 514-7855.
