SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Three children and two adults were saved by Suffolk police officers following an early morning fire in the city's downtown area.
According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, two officers were patrolling the area around Lee Street when they smelled something burning. They found a house with flames coming up from underneath it and were able to wake up five residents of the two-apartment home.
Two elderly adults, a 7-month-old, a 2-year-old and an 11-year-old were saved by the two police officers.
A total of six adults and three children were displaced temporarily as a result of the fire, which left minimal damage to the home.
