SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A Suffolk man is accused of beating his 9-year-old daughter with a belt.

Brandon Cardenell Adger, 32, of the 6300 block of Quaker Drive, was charged with felony abuse and neglect of children and cruelty and injuries to children, according to Suffolk police spokesperson Debbie George.

Police said the injuries occurred on Feb. 7 and was reported to police on Feb. 9, after the child could not go to school due to her injuries.

George said the girl had deep bruises and cuts on her arms and legs.

The child's mother was not home at the time of the incident.

Adger turned himself into Suffolk police on Thursday night.
