SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Crews responded to two separate house fires within an hour in Suffolk Thursday evening.
According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, the first fire was reported just before 6 p.m. on the 400 block of Bute Street in downtown Suffolk. Klink said crews arrived when the building was fully engulfed and said two occupants had escaped safely.
Another occupant had jumped out from a second story window and was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. In total, four adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Klink said crews were dispatched to the second house fire just after 7 p.m. in the 900 block of Brook Avenue at the Colander Bishop Apartments. The fire, located in the attic, affected three apartments of the home. The fire displaced two adults and two children who are also being assisted by the American Red Cross. No one was injured in the fire.
Both fires were ruled accidental.
