SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials report a car caught on fire after crashing into a log truck in Suffolk Monday evening.

According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, the accident occurred just before 7 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Quay Road near the Cotton Gin.

As the log truck was pulling into the roadway, a car crashed into it and caught on fire, according to Klink.

Klink said witnesses on scene pulled the car's driver out, then used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire before crews got to the scene.

The driver was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and South Quay Road was reduced to one lane westbound as police continued their investigation.
