ACCOMACK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - State Police confirm the cause of Thursday evening's fire in Pungoteague as arson.

According to Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police, troopers responded to an abandoned structure fire at approximately 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the 3300 block of Boston Road.

State Police said more than 40 fires on the Eastern Shore have been the cause of a serial arsonist setting fire to abandoned structures. No one has been injured in the fires which began in November.
