VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - An officer assigned to a SEAL team from Virginia Beach died Saturday in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Cmdr. Job W. Price, 42, of Pottstown, Pa., died of non-combat related injuries while supporting stability operations in southern Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense, Navy and Naval Special Warfare Group Two continues to work closely with officials to determine his exact cause of the death, according to a NSWG-2 news release.

"The Naval Special Warfare family is deeply saddened by the loss of our teammate," said Capt. Robert Smith, Commander, Naval Special Warfare Group Two. "We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and NSW community during this time of grieving."

"As we mourn the loss and honor the memory of our fallen Teammate, those he served with will continue to carry out the mission," Smith added.

According to CNN, Price was assigned to SEAL Team 4 based out of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek - Fort Story. He oversaw more than two dozen commandos and staff in counterterrorism operations in Uruzgan Province, a longtime center of insurgent activity.

Citing an unnamed official with direct knowledge of the event, CNN reported no foul play was expected in Price's death.
