YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) - Summit Christian Academy in Yorktown is trying to win $500,000 through a contest on Facebook. The Kohl's Cares program is giving the money to 20 schools across the nation in celebration of its 10th anniversary, and Kohl's is giving a total of $10 million.

Summit Christian Academy is one of three small private schools with a chance to win. The money will get equipment for classrooms and teachers. It will also fund science and technology labs.

"It's going to be amazing. We already have a new building in progress - a gymnasium. This is going to help us pay off some of our debt. It's going to be great, help us get some bleachers, smart boards for the classrooms, etc. All of these advances are going to help our students learn better," said Student President Graham Bradfield.

In order for the school to win, people must vote for them on Facebook , and each voter can vote five times. As of Monday, the school was in 24th place, but they need to get to the 20th spot to win the money. Voting ends September 3.
