PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Three teens between the ages of 13 and 15 were arrested Friday morning in Portsmouth, after police say the teens robbed several cars and homes, and vandalized a school.
Jan Westerbeck with the Portsmouth Police Department says school maintenance employees at Churchland Elementary School, 5601 Michael Lane, reported hearing glass breaking at approximately 7:30 a.m. and called 911.
While on his way to the scene, an officer spotted three juveniles close to the school. Westerbeck says the three juveniles were detained and were in possession of items belonging to other individuals, including ID cards, cell phones and GPS devices.
Westerbeck says the three suspects gathered items from various unlocked vehicles and homes in the Churchland section of Portsmouth starting around 2 a.m. on the same day.
The three suspects will face numerous burglary and larceny charges, as well as felony destruction of school property.
Westerbeck says some victims have been located, but officers are still looking for others.
