PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Several Hampton Roads residents won big in the Virginia Lottery recently.
Janice Vick won $250,000 in the Dec. 28 Mega Millions drawing and purchased the ticket at the Wilco Food Mart, 3920 Portsmouth Blvd.
Vick used a computer system to pick her numbers for her and was one matched number away from hitting the $25 million jackpot.
“Nobody could believe it,” Vick said. “It was just a great day!”
Steven Henderson bought his winning scratcher ticket while getting change to put air in his tires and is now $150,000.
“I scratched it, and next thing you know, my heart starts beating!” Henderson said.
Jim McKay was on his way to a hunting trip and picked up milk and a raffle ticket at a 7-Eleven in Glenns. McKay won $50,000 in the Jan. 1 drawing.
