PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Portsmouth and Newport News residents held National Night Out activities Tuesday evening.

The goal was for residents to 'take back' the streets from crime. Other Hampton Roads cities held NNO events over the summer.

Police paraded through both cities and residents were encouraged to leave porch lights on to show support for fighting crime.
