PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Portsmouth Police arrested a man after concerned citizens reported a suspicious person in an apartment complex parking lot.
The call was received on May 17 just before 1 a.m., and citizens described the man as wearing a dark hooded pullover and dark jeans.
When police arrived, they say they saw the man walking across Effingham Street. Police say the man took ran off, but police were able to apprehend him in the 800 block of Crawford Parkway.
Police identify the man as 21-year-old Dontrel Lamont Walker, of the 200 block of Ele Avenue. Walker was charged with grand larceny and carrying a concealed weapon.
Police say at the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a gun, knife and latex gloves. After an investigation, police learned that the gun had been taken from a parked vehicle.
Additional charges may be forthcoming in this ongoing investigation.
