RICHMOND, Va. (AP/WAVY) - The Portsmouth Community Health Center is the recipient of a federal government grant aimed at improving access to care.
The grants awarded to four community health centers in Virginia were announced Wednesday by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius total more than $2.4 million.
Johnson Health Center in Lynchburg received the largest amount, $914,083.
Loudoun Community Health Center in Leesburg received $489,250 and Portsmouth Community Health Center in Portsmouth was awarded $608,333. Vernon J. Harris East End CHC in Richmond received $441,667.
Sebellius says a total $128.6 million in grants was awarded to community health centers in 41 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands.
