Alveta Ewell announces retirement

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - WAVY-TV 10 Anchor Alveta Ewell announced her retirement Wednesday after more than 24 years at the WAVY anchor desk.

Ewell has worked in Hampton Roads for more than 30 years, kicking off her career at radio stations 2WD and WTAR. She joined WVEC-TV where she anchored morning and evening newscasts from 1983 through 1989, when she joined WAVY-TV.

Ewell's last newscast will be Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.
