PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Portsmouth police say more than $25,000 in equipment from the construction site for the Jordan Bridge was stolen during the early hours of June 27.
Jan Westerbeck with the Portsmouth Police Department said over 100 steel support beams and 25 metal guard rail posts were stolen close to a staging area at Elm Avenue and Burtons Point Road.
The beams range in size from 2 ft. to 4 ft. The 50 lb. posts range in size from 3 ft. to 4 ft. tall.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
The Bridge was scheduled to open in July, but after an accident on June 21 caused four minor injuries, Manager Kevin Crum said the opening would be rescheduled to August.
