HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Police have identified the gunman wanted for shooting a 52-year-old man on Sept. 6. who died more than a week later.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Price said detectives have secured warrants against Davon Pierre Brooks, 23, who has a last-known address in the 1100 block of Jebbs Place, Newport News. Police said Brooks shot Sam Edward Small in the upper torso while inside his home in the first block of Parks Drive just before 9 p.m on Sept. 6.
Doctors pronounced Small dead from his injuries at 9:09 p.m. Saturday.
Price said the investigation revealed the shooting stemmed from an argument between Brooks and Small, who knew each other.
