NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A 25-year-old woman died when the vehicle she was riding in crashed and flipped several times in Norfolk Wednesday morning.

Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department said the crash occurred in the 5700 block of Chesapeake Boulevard around 11 a.m. A vehicle traveling southbound on Chesapeake Boulevard struck a van as it pulled into the road.

The first vehicle, whose make and model are unknown at this time, veered off the roadway into the median strip where it flipped several times before coming to a rest. At some point, an adult female passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

She was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Thursday, she was identified as Amber Rose Fayette Lewis.

Two men who were in the vehicle with the victim were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and are expected to be fine.

The occupants of the van were not injured.

Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.

Chesapeake Boulevard from the 3500 block to the 5700 block was closed throughout the day Wednesday as officers continue the investigation.

Amos said the case has been sent to the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to determine if charges should be pressed.
