NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Visitors to the Virginia Zoo will be introduced to two new Malayan tigers in the coming weeks.
One-year-old Christopher currently calls the San Diego Zoo home. Clairborne, a two-year-old female tiger, will be coming to Norfolk from the Bronx Zoo in New York.

"Christopher and Clairborne will help us establish a successful long-term tiger breeding program at the Virginia Zoo," said Greg Bockheim, the Zoo's executive director. "Malayan tigers are endangered and we look forward to helping maintain a stable breeding population in North American zoos, and learning more about their behavior and how we might help their conservation worldwide."
The Virginia Zoo's current tigers, Kadan and Tahan, will be moving to the Naples Zoo in Florida.
