NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say one man was killed and another is in critical condition after the two were found inside of a pickup truck Friday afternoon.
Officers were called to the 6600 block of Cornwallis Lane just before 2:30 p.m. and were still on the scene after 6 p.m.
Two male gunshot victims found in a truck were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where one of them died, according to police spokeswoman Karen Parker-Chesson. The other victim remains in critical condition.
"To happen in my back yard it's pretty scary," Shanelle Little said. "My mother, she is always out here, cleaning the backyard or doing something. Thank God she wasn't outside at the time."
Neighbors on the scene told WAVY.com they heard two or three gunshots. One woman, who did not want her identity revealed, said she had never seen the truck the two men were found in around the neighborhood before.
"I don't recognize that truck at all," she said.
Police are searching for a Champagne-colored Nissan Altima, which drove from the scene. It has a Virginia license plate XEN 5559.
