Security turns away masked moviegoers

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Hundreds of people lined up to see the The Batman movie "Dark Knight Rises" at the MacArthur Center Thursday night.

Many of them were in costume, but because of that, mall security wouldn't let them in.

We placed a call into the marketing director at MacArthur Center overnight, to see if there is a mall policy against make-up and masks, and we are waiting for a call back.

There is a Virginia state law  that doesn't allow anyone over 16 years old to wear a mask or anything that hides the face, in a public place. There are some exceptions to that law, including those wearing holiday costumes.
