NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say one person has died following what appears to have been a one-vehicle crash in Norfolk Friday evening.
According to Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department, the accident happened around 9 p.m. close to the intersection of Ballentine Boulevard and East Virginia Beach Boulevard.
Parker-Chesson said two people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. A male died at the scene and a man fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended by police. He faces DUI charges, according to Parker-Chesson.
Police identified the deceased as Marvin Lee Reid, 50. They have not released the name of the DUI suspect.
The accident stopped traffic on E. Virginia Beach Boulevard from Ballentine Boulevard to Merrimac Ave. Friday night.
