NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk State University says the rector of its Board of Visitors has resigned for personal and family reasons.

The Norfolk school announced Gary McCollum's resignation on Friday. McCollum became rector last year.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that Vice Rector Henry Light will take the leadership role until elections are held at the September board meeting.
