NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Norfolk Police have charged 35-year-old Michael J. Karalia with one count each of arson, burglary and grand larceny in his involvement with a house fire and burglary.
Investigators with the Norfolk Fire Department ruled a fire on June 1 as arson and say the damage was considerable.
Bat. Chief Garry Windley with the Norfolk Fire Department said firefighters responded to a call for a house fire in the 700 block of Mayfield Avenue just before 10 p.m. Sunday.
Crews arrived on scene five minutes after the initial call and were able to put the fire out less than an hour later. Unfortunately, the fire caused about $75,000 in damage.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. One person has been displaced as a result.
