NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Police say speed and alcohol were factors in a deadly motorcycle accident early Thursday morning.

According to Karen Parker-Chesson with the Norfolk Police Department, the motorcycle rider, Mark T. Schroeder, lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guardrail. Schroeder, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Parker-Chesson said police responded to the scene shortly after 2 a.m. in the 200 block of Tidewater Drive.
