July 10 recognized as Yvonne Miller Day

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Governor Bob McDonnell announced July 10, 2012 will be recognized as "Yvonne B. Miller Day" in Virginia.

Miller passed away July 3 at her Norfolk home, and worked as a state senator and state representative since 1984. Miller was the first black woman to serve in both houses.

Her wake was held July 9, and her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on July 10 at New Hope Church of God in Christ.

Metropolitan Funeral Service will be livestreaming the funeral .
