NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Prior to crashing his vehicle into an off-duty police officer's vehicle, police say a man was shot in the area of East Princess Anne Road.
Karen Parker-Chesson with Norfolk Police says the crash occurred in the 3600 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard, and the off-duty officer was driving his personal vehicle. Parker-Chesson says the officer hit the suspect's car when the suspect drove through a red traffic light at the intersection of East Virginia Beach Boulevard and Ingleside Road.
The officer was transported to Sentara General Hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
The suspect continued driving his vehicle until police say it crashed on Azalea Garden Road. Police say the suspect was then transported to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital and underwent surgery for a gunshot wound that was received in the area of East Princess Anne Road.
Police say they believe the suspect was involved in an argument with another man when he was shot.
This incident is under investigation.
