NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say equipment used for demolishing flared a fire at Lyon's Shipyard in Norfolk Monday.
According to Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire and Rescue, smoke coming from a partially demolished building was reported just after noon at the shipyard, located in the 1900 block of Claiborne Avenue.
Williamson crews demolishing the building were using a cutting torch which accidentally ignited materials from the demolished building. There were no injuries reported and the fire was under control within 20 minutes.
