NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Firefighters have controlled a structure fire along Greenleaf Drive in Norfolk Tuesday morning.
Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire and Rescue said the structure fire was in the 1500 block of Greenleaf Drive. Units on scene reported smoke and flames showing from a second floor.
Williamson said the fire was contained to one bedroom on the second floor.
All occupants made it out of the structure, Williamson said. Five people have been displaced as a result.
The home did have working smoke detectors.
Williamson said a passerby helped the occupants try to put out the fire and was unsuccessful.
The fire appears to have been caused by a faulty electrical extension cord.
