NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Five months after a Norfolk teen was shot and killed, police credit an exhaustive investigation with the arrests of five suspects.

According to police spokesman Chris Amos, Norfolk investigators executed the search warrants Feb. 21. Jerry Jackson, Jr., Deshawn Johnson, Justin Mask, Salathiel Taylor and a 17-year-old were arrested without incident in connection with the September 21, 2012 homicide of Carlton Dean Jr. The five suspects have been charged with murder, robbery and use of a firearm.

The victim, a 19-year-old competitive swimmer and recent Maury High School graduate, went out with a friend he met at Tidewater Community College the night of his death. His father told WAVY.com he had a bad feeling when he heard Dean Jr. was going out with a girl his parents didn't know.

Police were called to the 2700 block of Vincent Avenue at 5:45 a.m. and found Dean Jr. shot and killed.

A motive in this case has not been released.

All five suspects are being in the Norfolk City Jail. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
