NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Tuesday, students at one local university got an opportunity to hear from a man who fought on the frontline of the Civil Rights era.
Dr. Joseph Lowery imparted life lesson during his address at Norfolk State University.
The 90-year-old was the president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and also worked with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"He was an interesting man, he was deeply committed to his struggle for liberty and justice for all our children, and people admired him, that's why they wanted to stop and talk to him," Lowery told WAVY.com
Lowery also gave the benediction during the inauguration ceremony for President Barack Obama.
