NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - An 8-year-old boy who was struck by a car on East Ocean View Avenue Friday is expected to survive, according to a police spokesman.
The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the 900 block of East Ocean Avenue. Police say the boy appeared to have stepped into the roadway and was hit by the car.
The child underwent surgery Friday night for potentially life-threatening injuries, but he is expected to survive.
A police spokesman told WAVY.com the long term prognosis for the boy is unclear as he sustained significant injuries.
