NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A house along Peterson Street in Norfolk sustained heavy damage after a fire ripped through the building Thursday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson said the fire sparked in a two-story home around 3 p.m. in the 3700 block of Peterson Street. Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flames showing from the home.

According to Williamson, 30 firefighters responded to the scene to fight the blaze.

Nearly 45 minutes later, crews were in the process of overhauling the fire. All occupants of the house made it out and no injuries were reported.

Williamson added the home sustained heavy fire damage to the back of the building and up on the second floor.
