NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News police are on the scene of a triple shooting in the city's east end.

Police spokeswoman Holly McPherson said the shooting happened in the intersection of 27th Street and Chestnut Avenue around 8:45 p.m.

Officers arrived and found a 46-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower body. McPherson said two additional victims showed up at the scene as police were talking to the first victim. The 18- and 19-year-old victims were shot in the leg or foot, as was the first victim.

McPherson said police are looking for at least two shooters. Police are not sure if the victims were shooting at each other.

All three were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The case is still under investigation.
