NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News man is accused of biting his girlfriend during a fight.

Newport News police were called to a home in Yorktown at 3:38 a.m. on Feb. 1. for the report of an assault.

Officers say the victim, a 27-year-old Yorktown woman, was at a local bar with her boyfriend, Stephen Bloomingdale, then returned to his home where he became angry and bit her.

The victim started driving home and Bloomingdale followed. Yorktown deputies pulled him over for reckless driving and issued him a summons. Warrants were also obtained for aggravated assault.

Bloomingdale turned himself in to Newport News Police on Feb. 3.
