Superintendent named ODU fellow

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ashby Kilgore has been named an ODU education fellow.
Kilgore attended ODU where she obtained a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in educational leadership has served as NNPS superintendent since 2007 as the system's first female leader.
Kilgore received the award Nov. 14 at the Darden Fellows Awards Luncheaon. The award honors one graduate each from various departments.
Kilgore was nominated because of her leadership and successes of NNPS with high expectations, rigorous content and support for students and teachers.
