NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A man was shot in the head and chest Sunday morning in the East End of Newport News.
Police responded to the 600 block of 30th Street around 5:00 a.m. after residents reported hearing several gunshots in the area.
Officers arrived to find a 20 year-old man with at least two gunshot wounds. Medics transported the man to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a press release from Newport News police.
Police have not released any information regarding a possible suspect or what led up to the shooting.
The victim has been identified as Robert Henry Brown Jr. of Newport News. He is in critical condition at a local hospital.
Investigators are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
