NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Newport News Police responded to a a shooting Sunday night that left a 24-year-old man dead.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., police were called to the Americana East Mobile Home Park located in the 200 block of Maple Court. There they found a man suffering a gunshot wound to his upper left chest, Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said.
He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m.
Eley identified the victim as Ajene Tylik Marrow of Newport News.
A preliminary investigation indicates Marrow, who Eley said police believed was homeless, was standing in front of one of the mobile home units when a gold colored Nissan pulled up and one gunshot was fired from the vehicle.
