NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Animal Control officers in Newport News are asking for the public’s help in locating a dog that reportedly bit a four-year-old girl in the face Saturday.
According to Kim Lee with the City of Newport News, the child was bit by a possible Blue Heeler or Australian cattle dog along Scottland Terrace in the Riverside area of the City.
The dog’s owner was walking two dogs through the neighborhood, both of which were on leashes. At the time of the bite, the owner was not holding onto the leash of that dog, Lee said.
After the bite, the dog’s owner was said to have grabbed the dog, told them the dogs were current on their rabies vaccinations and then left the area.
Anyone with information on the dog or its owner is asked to call Newport News Animal Services at 757-595-PETS.
