NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say it is not known what caused a brush fire close to the interstate Monday morning.
According to Kenneth Lay with the Newport News Fire Department, crews responded to the brush fire close to Interstate 64 just after 10 a.m. Monday.
VDOT crews closed down two lanes of traffic until the fire was out. The scene was cleared within 30 minutes and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
