NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - Citywide mosquito spraying is underway in Newport News, where recent rain produced an increase in the mosquito population.
The Vector Control Section of Public Works began its fogging operations August 27. The spraying will run through September 7, Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., weather permitting.
The city says the chemicals used present minimal risk to humans, pet sand non-target species.
