NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A Newport News school bus driver and bus assistant have been suspended with pay after a 4-year-old child was found on the bus two hours after the bus left the school Friday morning.
According to Michelle Price, with Newport News Public Schools, the bus driver and assistant failed to complete a walkthrough on the bus after dropping students off at the Watkins Early Childhood Center.
The bus driver discovered the child two hours later when she was on her way to her next assignment. The girl was not hurt.
Another school bus took the student to school, where she completed her day.
