NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A brand-new multipurpose room and kitchen were unveiled at a local Boys and Girls Club of the Virginia Peninsula Thursday.
The $30,000 grantfrom Lowe's enabled the club to make improvements with new cabinets, appliances and materials for home economics and life skills classes.
"The room formerly an arts and crafts room, so it had a lot of love and a lot of usage was really in need of an upgrade or a renovation, so we decided to turn it into a multi-purpose room," Arlene Armentor with the Boys and Girls Club of Virginia said.
Since 2009, Lowe's and the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation have donated more than $2 million to Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
