NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - One person was extracted from a vehicle following a car crash in Newport News Thursday.
According to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Turnberry Boulevard at approximately 6 p.m.
Thurston says witnesses on the scene report the driver of a Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling southbound was stopped at a red light and struck by a Toyota SUV entering the intersection going northbound, making a left turn onto Turnberry Boulevard.
Thurston said the pickup truck flipped on its side and the driver was extracted by crews on scene.
The driver of the pickup truck, 33-year-old Jessica Faye Pommerening of Hampton was issued a summons for not obeying a traffic signal.
All traffic was cleared as of 7:15 p.m.
