ASHLAND, Ohio (WAVY) - An intensive search will resume in Dare County, NC Thursday for Lynn Jackenheimer, who has been missing for a week.

According to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard, crews from the Dare Sheriff's Office, National Park Service, Nags Head Police Department and the Kill Devil Hills Police Department will conduct searches in key areas of interest determined by investigators. The search operations will begin at 8 a.m. and WAVY News 10 will be there.

A search warrant issued in Dare County, N.C. where the missing Ohio woman was last seen implicates her boyfriend in her disappearance.

Captain Jeff Deringer, listed on the search warrant application executed on July 10, stated that "Nathan Summerfield made statements to the fact of strangling Lynn Jackenheimer and burying the body in our jurisdiction."

Jackenheimer, 33, was last seen and heard from on July 3 in the Salvo area of Hatteras Island, which is in Dare County. She was vacationing with her two children and her ex-boyfriend, Nate Summerfield, 27.

Court documents obtained by WAVY.com show that their relationship had an abusive past. In 2009, Ashland County, Ohio authorities were called to Summerfield's home. Jackenheimer told detectives that he grabbed her by the throat and choked her, then dragged her through the house. The report states that there were visible signs of abuse and Summerfield was charged with domestic violence.

The police report says Jackenheimer told the arriving officer that she found a money order for $520 addressed to a city in Poland. When she confronted Summerfield about it, she said he told her it was something for a friend. Jackenheimer said that he used steroids in the past and that she knew the steroids came from Poland, according to the report.

Summerfield also violated a probation order in the past and has been convicted of menacing.

The restraining order filed in 2009, demanded Summerfield stay away from Jackenheimer.

His brother called 911 in Ohio Sunday, July 9, and told the dispatcher he "wanted to report a possible murder." He went on to say that his brother said he strangled his ex-girlfriend. Jake Summerfield told police that his brother dropped off his son with him Sunday then left.

Summerfield was last seen in his 2009 dark charcoal grey Honda Civic with Ohio license plate FMV 7540. According to Ashland County investigators, that car remains missing and a nationwide search has been unable to find it.

Captain Carl Reichert, the lead detective with the Ashland County Sheriff's Office, told WAVY.com both children are safe and are in the custody of family members in Ohio. Capt. Reichert said Nate Summerfield's cell phone was found in Ashland County along a city street on July 8. The captain told WAVY.com late Tuesday, they also found her Jackenheimer's phone.

"We are going through the legal channels to get information from the cell phones," said Reichert. He said Lynn's cell phone was found Tuesday night in her luggage, which was in the Ashland County Sheriff's Office evidence locker.

Summerfield is currently considered a person of interest in Jackenheimer's disappearance.

WAVY.com has confirmed with Ashland authorities that Summerfield spent the night in a Richmond area hotel with the children on July 6. They checked out the next day, but Capt. Reichert said he does not know where they were from Saturday morning until Summerfield showed up at his parents' house Sunday.

Jackenheimer's family is desperately trying to figure out where she is. Her stepfather, Raymond Johnson, said they have been trying to comfort her 3-year-old son Leland.

"Right now Leland thinks his mom's coming home to go to bed with him. His mom ain't going to be there to go to bed with him. And when he woke up this morning, grandpa grandma, where's mommy? Go find mommy," said Johnson.

"If I can just have a place to take him, to his mom, it's all I ask for," Jackenheimer's mother Lora Johnson said.

Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office says Jackenheimer and Summerfield have visited the Outer Banks on previous occasions. They are hoping anyone who might have formed a relationship with the pair during those visits will contact them as soon as possible.

Anyone with information should call the Dare County Sheriff's Office at 252-475-5980 or call 911. You can call the Ashland County Sheriff's Office detective bureau at 419-289-3911.
