VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police said a man stabbed one person and injured another as well as himself with a knife at the Oceanfront Saturday evening.
Virginia Beach Police Department spokeswoman Grazia Moyers said officers responded to a stabbing call in the 2200 block of Atlantic Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Police arrived to find one victim stabbed in the abdomen and two others with cuts or small puncture wounds.
One of those suffering from a cut was the suspect, 33-year-old Jimmy Lee Dutton of Tennessee, Moyers said. Police took Dutton into custody at the scene.
According to police, Dutton and two others tried to enter The Edge, but were told the bar was not yet open. At some point a verbal altercation ensued and Dutton reportedly pulled out a knife and chased a victim.
Moyers said medics took the victim stabbed in the abdomen to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second person, said to be Dutton's friend who tried to subdue Dutton, was treated at the scene.
