Potholes popping up across Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - Potholes are popping up on streets across Hampton Roads and the city of Hampton is no exception.

Paul Richardson, superintendent of bridge and street operations for Hampton, says Public Works crews have been busy this season. According to Richardson, crews go out every morning to check on pothole complaints.

In the past two months, the city has spent nearly $200,000 on pothole repairs.

If you have a pothole to report in Hampton, call the city's customer call center at 3-1-1, or 727-8311 from a cell phone, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. every day of the week. Be prepared to provide the location, size and depth (if possible) of the pothole and if the road is asphalt or concrete.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has also been busy addressing a major pothole problem, specifically on Interstate 264 Eastbound. On Feb. 8, dozens of drivers found themselves parked on the side of the road after potholes left them with flat tires.
