One extricated after SUV crash

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - One person was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by Nightingale after a crash along Rendon Drive in Hampton Friday morning.

Capt. Anthony Chittum with Hampton Fire and Rescue said the crash occurred in the 500 block of Rendon Raod just after 1:30 a.m. When crews arrived on scene, they found on SUV severely damaged with a person trapped inside.

The male patient was extricated from the vehicle, where he was then taken by a medic unit to Sentara Careplex Hospitals before being transferred by Nightingale to Norfolk General’s trauma center.

Chittum said the patient suffered severe facial injuries.

The cause remains under investigation.
